Professionals from Hospital del Mar have shared different clinical needs they have identified in their day-to-day care with Catalonia.health companies, as well as with other companies in the Catalan health sector, who have attended a new edition of the “Hospital Connection”. The initiative, promoted by Catalonia.health and its Internal Innovation Committee, aims to generate synergies and encourage the development of joint solutions that reach health professionals and patients as soon as possible. The meeting was held on 22nd May in the Josep Marull Hall of the Hospital del Mar University Campus.

The welcome from the Hospital del Mar was given by Antoni Gilabert, Director of Innovation at the centre, and the introduction of the challenges was given by Margarita Hospedales, head of the Innovation Projects Unit at the Hospital del Mar. Catalonia.health was welcomed by Roser Alba, project manager and coordinator of the Internal Innovation Committee.

In this edition of Hospital Connection, six professionals shared their challenges with the companies attending. The challenges originated in various departments of the Hospital del Mar, such as the Infectious Diseases Service, the ICU, the Traumatology Service, the Selection and Development team, the Haemodynamics Service and the Health Practices team. Counting the six that were selected for presentations, a  total of 18 challenges were collected, which can  also be consulted on the event's website, where they keep posted.

In addition, a new feature of this edition of the programme is that a half-hour slot has been added so that  interested companies can present possible solutions to the challenges. With the clinical needs presented beforehand, the companies interested in responding to the challenges were able to send their solutions and share them with the attendees that day.

The Hospital Connection conference is an excellent opportunity to get to know the collaboration models and clinical development lines of the main hospitals in Catalonia and to facilitate hospital-company relations.
